The dandelion has been part of my logo from the very beginning of GaleForce Design Jewelry. I’ve always been drawn to them, though not for the reasons I’m about to share.
For me, dandelions have always felt playful and fun. They remind me of being a kid, picking up a fluffy seed head, making a wish, and blowing the seeds into the wind to see where they would go. There was something magical about watching those tiny seeds float away on the breeze.
When I created my logo, the dandelion felt like the perfect fit for another reason too. With the name GaleForce, I wanted to capture the movement of the wind itself. A dandelion in motion tells that story beautifully. The wind can be powerful, yet there is also something graceful about it. Watching dandelion seeds lift into the air is a reminder that strength and beauty can exist together.
That sense of wonder and movement is what first made me love dandelions. Recently, though, I came across a video that gave me an entirely new perspective on them.

The Sun, the Moon, and the Stars
The video pointed out something I had never noticed before. The dandelion’s life cycle mirrors the sun, the moon, and the stars.
It begins as a bright yellow flower that resembles the sun. Later, it transforms into a white seed head that looks much like the moon. Finally, the seeds are carried away by the wind, scattering across the landscape like stars across the night sky.
I’ve admired dandelions for years, and somehow I had never made that connection before. Once I heard it, though, it seemed impossible to unsee.
A Different Way to Look at Change
What resonated with me most was the message behind that transformation.
The dandelion doesn’t stay in one stage forever. It changes completely several times throughout its life, yet each stage has its own beauty and purpose. The bright yellow flower isn’t better than the seed head, and the seed head isn’t better than the seeds drifting away on the breeze. They’re simply different parts of the same journey.
That idea feels especially meaningful because change can be uncomfortable. We often want things to stay familiar, even when life is moving us in a new direction. The dandelion is a reminder that change doesn’t have to mean something is being lost. Sometimes it means something new is beginning.
Finding Hope Along the Way
The part of the video that affected me most was the idea that hope can exist even in times of change.
It’s easy to feel uncertain when we’re moving through a new season of life. We don’t always know where the path is leading or what comes next. Yet the dandelion continues its journey through every stage, becoming something completely different while remaining exactly what it was meant to be.
There is something comforting about that.
The seeds drift away on the wind without knowing exactly where they’ll land, yet they carry the potential for new life wherever they go. In many ways, hope works the same way. We don’t always see the outcome, but we trust that something good can grow from the changes we’re experiencing.
A New Appreciation for an Old Favorite
I’ll probably always love dandelions because they remind me of childhood wishes, windy days, and carefree moments spent outdoors.
Now, though, I appreciate them for another reason too.
What once felt like a playful flower and a beautiful symbol of the wind has also become a reminder that change is a natural part of life and that hope can exist right alongside it. That’s a message I never expected to find in a dandelion, but it’s one that resonates with me more than ever.
Sometimes the simplest things in nature have the most meaningful stories to tell.
