The name GaleForce Design Jewelry has roots in both nature and strength. A “gale” is not just a word for strong winds. It’s a precise measurement that carries history, symbolism, and imagery that resonate deeply with my work.
Gale force winds are measured on the Beaufort Wind Force Scale, developed in the early 1800s by Sir Francis Beaufort, a British admiral. He created a numbered scale so sailors could estimate wind speeds based on how the sea and surroundings responded.
A gale begins at force 8, with winds of 39–46 miles per hour. It can reach force 9, where winds blow 47–54 miles per hour. These winds are strong enough to move branches and whip across open water. They carry a sense of raw, unstoppable energy.
Beyond the numbers, gale force winds hold a deeper meaning. They embody nature’s intensity, unpredictability, and power. A gale can feel untamed. Yet within that force is also renewal and movement. These winds clear, shift, and change the landscape.
The name GaleForce Design Jewelry comes from my first name, Gale. It also feels fitting because gale force winds reflect qualities I admire: strength, movement, and a connection to the natural world. My jewelry embodies those same qualities through its energy and natural rhythm.
Each piece feels as if it has been shaped by the elements. Just as winds move through trees and mountains, my designs carry the energy of transformation and resilience.
When you wear GaleForce jewelry, you carry more than a piece of copper art. You carry a reminder of strength in motion, the beauty of wild forces, and the balance between nature’s power and grace.
