Nature-Inspired Copper Jewelry: How It’s Made

Nature Inspired Copper Jewelry How It’s Made

Drawing Inspiration from Nature’s Beauty

Welcome to the process behind my nature-inspired copper jewelry, where organic elements intertwine with a raw, untamed spirit. I handcraft each piece in Fort Collins, Colorado as a reflection of my deep connection to nature. I design with intention, creating pieces that carry the texture and rhythm of the natural world. Unpredictable. Grounded. Free.

The journey begins with a vision. I thoughtfully design each piece using Illustrator, a graphic design program. Every detail carries meaning, emotion, and story. Each one captures the tranquility of a forest, the grace of a bird, or the peacefulness of a blooming meadow. From there, I transfer the design onto copper sheet using a unique heat-transfer technique. Then I etch the metal with acid, a process that removes the exposed areas and reveals the design with texture and depth. It feels a bit like nature carving its own path, leaving behind something bold and full of character.

Hand-Finished Perfection: Honoring Nature’s Intent

To ensure a smooth and comfortable finish, I hand-file and sand the edges of each piece. Then I anneal the copper to soften it. Once it’s ready, I use a blend of traditional and proprietary coloring methods to highlight fine details and bring out the natural depth in the design. After that, I shape the piece into its final form by hand.

I also apply a protective metal sealer to help preserve the colors over time.

Made for Those Who Thrive Outside the Lines

You weren’t made to blend in and neither is this jewelry. Nature doesn’t follow a pattern, and you don’t either. This nature-inspired copper jewelry is for the ones who live untamed, follow the crooked path, and feel most at home with dirt on their boots and pockets full of rocks.
