Leaves hold symbolism in many cultures, but in general, they symbolize growth. The green leaves of spring and summer depict hope, renewal and revival. Blazing yellow, orange and red leaves of fall represent the change of season. Ultimately, fallen leaves complete the circle of life.

I have always been fond of the outdoors. As a child, I would play in the woods and naturally studied the plants and trees. I loved to learn where each plant liked to grow, what kind of light it grew best in and what kind of moisture it thrived with. Birch trees have a special place in my heart as they were plentiful in our Minnesota woods and have the most unique bark!

The dark and turquoise-colored patinas on these unique earrings make them look weather worn. They are a great compliment for many outfits. You can dress them up or wear them casual.

I have applied a metal sealer to the front side of the earrings to help preserve the colors. The nickel free ear wires and other areas of the earrings will naturally patina. They measure 1″ long (1.5″ with wire drop length) x 0.5″ wide.

To achieve the design on these earrings, I have used an acid etching technique. Years of experimenting with and fine tuning the process have led to the intricate details you see here.
