Fun fact about sunflowers, each sunflower’s head is really a collection of 1,000 to 2,000 tiny flowers arranged in an intricate pattern that creates a reproductive opportunity for the plant. The petals we see around the outside are called ray florets, and they cannot reproduce. But the disc florets in the middle, where the seeds develop, have both male and female sex organs, and each produce a seed. They can self-pollinate or take pollen blown by the wind or transported by insects.
These fun earrings will make you feel grounded and calm as they are a connection to the deep, rich earth and to the open, fresh sky. Perfect for any horticulturist, florist and nature lover. These earrings are a great compliment for many outfits. They can be dressed up or worn casual.
Colored with my special, purple-flash, iridescent patina, the shading is stunning in person! They color shift from purple to blue like magic.
I have applied a metal sealer to the front side of the earrings to help preserve the colors. The nickel free ear wires and other areas of the earrings will naturally patina. They measure 1″ long (1.5″ with wire drop length) x 0.5″ wide.
To achieve the design on these earrings, I have used an acid etching technique. Years of experimenting with and fine tuning the process has led to the intricate details you see here.
