Recently, to stock up on materials, I acquired a sheet of 14-gauge copper measuring a whopping 24 square feet. To put this into perspective, let’s break it down. A standard bracelet from GaleForce Design Jewelry measures 1 inch in width and 6 inches in length. When you consider the dimensions of this copper sheet, I can create a staggering 576 bracelets from that single sheet!
Weighty Considerations
Now, let’s talk about weight. Copper is known for its density, and 14-gauge copper weighs approximately 2.9 pounds per square foot. With a 24-square-foot sheet, that’s roughly 69.6 pounds of copper!
When I’m crafting each bracelet, I carefully etch, color and shape the copper to bring out the intricate details of my nature-inspired designs. Despite its density, copper is surprisingly malleable, allowing me to create delicate and organic patterns that capture the essence of the natural world.
