Seven years of marriage is traditionally celebrated with copper or wool. As someone who works with copper every day, I may be a little biased about which one makes the more interesting anniversary gift.
Copper is warm, durable, and incredibly versatile. It can be shaped, textured, acid etched, and colored in ways that make each finished piece unique. What Is the Traditional 7th Anniversary Gift?
The anniversary gift traditions we recognize today developed over time. In 1937, the American National Retail Jewelers Association published an expanded list of anniversary gifts for the first 20 years of marriage and every fifth year after that. Copper was assigned to the seventh anniversary.
Wool represents warmth and comfort, while copper has traditionally been associated with prosperity, good fortune, and durability.
If wool is more your spouse’s style, there are plenty of great options out there. Unfortunately, I can’t help much unless you’re considering steel wool. 😉

I make my copper jewelry by hand in my small home workshop. Many of my designs begin with a plain sheet of copper that I acid etch, anneal with a torch, color, shape, and hand finish.
The acid etching process allows the artwork to become part of the surface of the metal. I use this technique to create designs inspired by mountains, flowers, trees, wildlife, and other parts of the natural world.
After I create the color and patina, the front of my jewelry is sealed to help preserve the finish.
Because I work on each piece individually, small variations in the color and finish are part of the process. Even when I use the same techniques, no two pieces turn out exactly alike.

Copper jewelry does not have to fit one particular style.
Many of my bracelet designs are gender neutral, especially those featuring mountains, trees, wildlife, geometric patterns, moon phases, and other nature-inspired imagery.
I also make some narrower copper bands. The thinner width has a simpler profile that many men prefer to wear, although anyone can choose whichever width feels most comfortable and suits their style.
